Review: Mad Max: Fury Road

'Mad Max: Fury Road' releases on Blu-ray and DVD tomorrow and in hoping that I can convince you to check out this wonderful film here's my review for the film that I typed up back in May.

This film is amazing. PERIOD! Incredible action sequences, memorable characters, and a plot that was so simple, even a newborn child could comprehend what was going on. With a film like 'Mad Max: Fury Road' the plot didn't need to be complex and deep to create a great movie, it just needed to be there to give the film enough substance to stand on it's very own.

Director George Miller somehow found a way to not only create a film with lots of style, but also found a way to have it's own unique substance to it that makes it stand out from the rest of the pack. Most films are dragged down to the bottomless pits of cinema hell due to style over substance, but Miller and Co. found a way to make the style stand out and be the film's high-point, but also made the substance very present so that 'Fury Road' could come together as a complete film going experience. This world has it's own substance to it unlike any other films that we have seen in recent memory, but it works for the setting and universe that it is set in. The 'Mad Max' universe gives the saying "it's a mad, mad world" a whole other meaning.

Point blank, this is one of the best action movies in the last 10-15, maybe even 20 years. The stunt work was impeccable and it will certainly stand the test of time for many years to come, as for the first time in a long time (maybe even ever) I hadn't gasped, guffawed, cheered, and even clapped mid-sequence during a film. As old as Miller is (70) he found a way to create a modern action masterpiece, that is surely to be this summer's best offer.

The action set pieces aren't just the film's standout moments, what also stands at the top of this film's mighty mountain is the performances by our actors and the characters involved in this high octane, blood boiling, thrill ride. Tom Hardy (Max), Charlize Theron (Furiosa), and Nichola Hoult (Nux) are INCREDIBLE! Furiosa has become one of my favorite characters this year, Max himself is a total badass, and Nux is the film's unsung hero and underdog that nearly steals the show. Theron, Hardy, and Hoult load and fire on all cylinders and drive this film home to the land of gasoline and sand, and make 'Mad Max: Fury Road' an incredible experience that MUST be seen by anyone and everyone.

Please spread the word and support this film, it isn't for everyone let's be honest, but if you come across anyone with some skepticism introduce them to this world by showing them the original three films and then Fury Road as soon as you can, as it is sure to be one of 2015's greatest offers.

I certainly do love 'Fury Road' but it is still just short of 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' and 'Inside Out' on my favorites of 2015 list. Maybe that will change with the repeat viewings that this film will get from me. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH WHAT A LOVELY DAY IT IS!

I give 'Mad Max: Fury Road' a 9.6/10
